Cedar Rapids Municipal Utilities has partnered with US Bank to offer our customers the opportunity to pay their utility bill with a credit card, debit card or e-check. We accept Visa, Master Card or Discover cards.

There are two ways to pay your utility bill electronically: over the phone and online. A fee is charged for each electronic payment. This fee goes directly to the bank; the utilities do not benefit from the assessment of this fee. For more information about other convenient utility bill payment options that do not have a bank fee, check out our automatic payment option.

The maximum payment amount for each credit card transaction is $350. Your payment will be posted to your account by the end of the next business day.

Using a Credit Card to pay a Reconnection Fee, Start of Service Deposit or to Avoid Disconnection
If you are using a credit card payment to pay a reconnection fee, start of service deposit or to avoid disconnection:

  • Follow the instructions below to pay the fee online or by phone.
  • Make note of your confirmation number.
  • Call Customer Service at 319-286-5900 to report your confirmation number.

Credit Card payments are not posted to your account until the following day. Calling with your confirmation number is the best way to avoid problems.

Paying Online
US Bank applies a convenience fee of $3.50 for online payments. To pay online click on the button below. You will be directed to a secure website.

To 'log in' enter your municipal utility account number in both fields. After clicking 'log in' you will see the payment screen where you can complete your transaction.

Effective 3/22/17, there will be a change in your online payment process. Initially, you will be required to enter your Cedar Rapids Water Department Account# twice and then you will be directed to create a NEW account password. Please save this password information to access your account for future online payments.

*PLEASE NOTE: If your service has been disconnected due to nonpayment or you have received notification of a returned NSF payment, we will require a cash, money order, or credit card payment only for these transactions. We will not accept a regular check or a phone or web e-check on these transactions. If you have any questions, please call customer service at 319-286-5900.

Paying by Phone
US Bank applies a convenience fee of $4.95 for phone payments. To pay with a credit card over the phone call 1-888-821-2215. Please have your utility account number and credit card information available when you call.

U.S. Bank E-Payment Service Privacy Policy
Your payment is being processed using the U.S. Bank E-Payment Service. As part of this service, we collect information necessary to complete the transaction and as requested by the City of Cedar Rapids. The City of Cedar Rapids collects only the required information in order to properly apply your payment to our Utility Billing system.

Information necessary to process and service the transaction will be provided to the City of Cedar Rapids. For information regarding the security and use of your information by U.S. Bancorp, visit U.S. Bank's Consumer Online Privacy.

Credit Card Refund Policy
In cases where you believe a fraudulent charge has appeared on your credit card or bank statement, please contact your bank.

In cases where you believe there is a duplicate or inaccurate charge to your credit card, please contact Cedar Rapids Municipal Utilities Customer Service at 319-286-5900. MasterCard, VISA and Discover refunds are credited back to the original credit card.
