Amy Stevenson was appointed City Clerk in July 2010 after having worked in the Cedar Rapids City Clerk’s Office for 20 years including 3-1/2 years as Deputy.
Stevenson’s responsibilities include supervising the staff of the City Clerk’s Office and maintaining the official records of the City of Cedar Rapids including council proceedings, licenses and permits and boards and commissions and responding to requests for information from citizens and city personnel.
Career accomplishments include the implementation of a citywide document management system which resulted in greater efficiency in managing and tracking documents and information. Stevenson was also instrumental in developing new policies and procedures to streamline preparation of the City Council meeting agendas following the change in the form of government. In May 2015 the City Clerk’s Office in coordination with the IT Department completed an Agenda Automation Project utilizing software which streamlines several steps of meeting preparation and finalization, including the issuance of Microsoft Surface 3 tablets to City Council members to review the meeting packet electronically, resulting in significant time savings along with reducing paper and printing costs.
Stevenson received a BBA in Management from Mount Mercy University in 1999. She also earned the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks program in October 2013.
