Public Hearing Schedule and Correspondence
VIRTUAL MEETINGS DURING COVID-19 EMERGENCY
The Cedar Rapids City Council is holding electronic regular City Council meetings because meeting in person is impossible or impractical due to concerns for the health and safety of Council members, staff and the public presented by COVID-19. Electronic meetings are allowed by Iowa Code Section 21.8 and Governor Reynolds’ Proclamations of Disaster Emergency.
Public hearings are conducted by the City Council during a Council meeting, usually as required by state law, allowing Council members to receive information and hear public comments regarding proposed rezonings, dispositions of city-owned property and other topics. Comments are limited to five minutes per speaker, unless the Mayor allows otherwise.

Bid openings for larger Capital Improvement Projects (those preceded by public hearings) are also shown on this schedule. The document is updated on Wednesdays after 11 a.m.
Public Hearing Correspondence
Written comments and objections pertaining to public hearings are distributed to the City Council and necessary department staff and filed in the City Clerk's Office. All letters and petitions filed are considered public record and will be made available for examination and copying pursuant to applicable laws. You must provide a first and last name in order for your letter or petition to be entered into the official public record.
